Because of the sun going down so early we felt more comfortable averaging around 30 miles a day. We enjoyed the ride so much that we are considering riding from Santa Cruz to San Diego in January or February of 2009 then over to New Mexico. Made the trip in October of 2008. I did mine in November of this year and the problem with the the days are short. After the sun sets it's cold so you want to just go to sleep. It's a beautiful ride especially through Big Sur.
